Emily becomes ‘Trainee of the Year’

Food Production & Service programme trainee Emily honoured with Trainee of the Year award for her dedication to her training and positivity in reaching her goals.

Emily, who has a learning disability and hearing loss, was recently honoured with the coveted ‘Trainee of the Year’ award at The CRUMBS Project for her outstanding training commitment and performance.

Emily joined a Food Production & Service training programme with The CRUMBS Project to learn new skills in preparation for employment and living more independently. Known for her attention to detail and organisational skills, she has consistently excelled in her training and demonstrated her passion for professional catering.

Emily has enthusiastically embraced the different learning opportunities provided by The CRUMBS Project. She has engaged in Showcase meal events, working in teams to prepare and serve a wide variety of different dishes to guests. She actively participates in skills exchanges with other charities, including The Café Project, as well as cookery masterclasses led by professional chefs and educational field trips offered to trainees.

Emily attends Springboards Awards for Excellence 2025 with Peter Jones, Chair of The CRUMBS Project, Lee Whalley, Head of Operations, and Ursula Boardman, Head of Centre.

Emily has relished work experience opportunities with Rick Stein Sandbanks Restaurant and the Escoffier restaurant kitchen at Bournemouth & Poole College, collaborating with specialised chefs from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, and demonstrating her cookery skills and aptitude.
