The CRUMBS Project gains recognition in the House of Commons for the charity’s crucial work promoting accessible employment in the hospitality industry

Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, Liz Kendall, commends The CRUMBS Project for its significant role in promoting disability confidence and supporting the Government’s Get Britain Working Plan.

Following a recent visit to The CRUMBS Project’s training centre, Jessica Toale, Member of Parliament for Bournemouth West, raised the importance of the charity’s work during question time in the House of Commons. Jessica spoke about the charity’s provision of hospitality-based training programmes for disadvantaged adults and its success with over 90% of trainees gaining employment at the end of their training.

Jessica Toale posed the question to Liz Kendall, Secretary of State for Work & Pensions:

“Given the Secretary of State’s commitment to bringing people with long-term health conditions and disabilities back into work, what more support can she give to successful programmes like [The] CRUMBS [Project]?”

Liz Kendall discussed the Government’s Get Britain Working Plan, which aims to revamp job centres and enhance the integration of work, health, and skills services to better support individuals in securing and maintaining work. It focuses on providing tailored support to help people overcome barriers to employment and access training and health services.

Liz Kendall praised The CRUMBS Project for its efforts in assisting individuals with long-term mental health conditions and disabilities to secure employment in the hospitality industry. She emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “It is only by working together we will get the right support to get people on a pathway to work and a pathway to success.”
